Daylight nicking

What the Tooting Bec?I was left gawping in horror at some of the prices in a health food shop,it was £5 for cacao powder.Maybe I’m not appreciative enough of how it comes about(I will look it up),but isn’t that so conservative of this country, health food shops are so middle class, seeing as they are the only ones that can afford it,not for the working class, who also have health issues.Hello!Anybody can be conscious of their health, but sadly it may be to expensive to do something about it.At least I did get to make some cacao powder and coconut oil chocolate ganache,it perked me up in a time of dire straits.

Coconut pie base

Been doing some tootling on recipe blogs, and  found a good idea on ‘My Humble Kitchen’,a coconut pie base, made with desiccated coconut, coconut milk, and coconut oil.

Another coconut recipe was 3,2,1 custard from “The Greenbacks Girl”,it reminds me of  Nigella’s Express Caribbean Cremes, you blitz 3 eggs,2 bannanas, and 1 can of coconut milk in a blender, pour them into ramekins, and put them in a water bath for 45 mins, when cool refrigerate.

Hmm,Nigella may have to dissappear(temporarily)

Seeing as the highest months of my sugar intake happened to coincide with my acquisition of ‘How To Be a Domestic Goddess’,Nigella will sadly have to be regulated to the furthest corners of the bookshelf (for now, anyway) though I am going to scoot through and see if I can find any recipes that are no sugar,or at least low sugar, but even as I’m typing it,the prospect seems dismal.

The crazy lady(not at all what I aspire too)

I was having some trouble art wise, the painting I wanted,of one Kees Van Dongens mistresses slumped seductively was too grainy, and I had trouble cropping it,then I turned to the portrait of Charles Haslewood Shannon, because I think he looks the essence of the aesthete in it,but that wasn’t too good either,so I found a crazy lady he painted(to be fair it was theatrical).Hmm,how would the postman cope with that, seeing as he gawped at the two silk kimonos and a silk headscarf,Callas wavering in the background…Oh did I not mention, this blog might mention art, occasionally, ever so slightly, not at all pretentiously, and most of all intelligibly, not in the least patronisingly…

Sugar Rehabilitation

Sweets for my sweets…Brown sugar…seeing as I have effectively kiboshed(is that how you spell it)my sugar intake,my mind seems to have coped with this by replaying these sweet centred tunes,I actually find it rather soothing, though a bit sickly. For yes, have done what what only a handful of my age have done before,I’ve quit the sugar(though done my way, ahem). It may last,it may bloom,it may fizzle, but maybe ,if I don’t forget,I’ll post what I’ve munching on,though I have to get the hang of putting up photos, not quite technically advanced, still have the aura of a cavegirl precariously wielding a log(though in this case, accuse the rhyming,a blog).Accuse is actually meant to be ‘scuse, but I’m having trouble typing.

Went on a six month sugar bender, now on road to recovery
